Andy Samberg's Stuntman Suit From 'Hot Rod' Is Up For Auction
Rod Kimble's Evil Knievel-inspired caped jumpsuit is hitting the auction block next month
Cool beans! One of the most recognizable pieces from the cult-classic Lonely Island movie Hot Rod can now be yours. The grand finale jumpsuit worn by Andy Samberg’s amateur stuntman character Rod Kimble in the 2007 film is hitting the auction block next month via Propstore Auctions.
Samberg wore the starry, collared Evil Knievel-inspired wardrobe for the film’s big jump—a span of 15 school busses Rod attempted to clear in order to cover his stepfather Frank’s heart transplant.
Rod was gifted the suit by his trusty pit crew in advance of the climactic moment. Samberg’s co-star and fellow Lonely Islander Jorma Taccone recounted the scene on a recent episode of The Lonely Island and Seth Meyers Podcast.
“You’re going to look like a champion,” Taccone’s Kevin tells Rod in the scene as he gives his half-brother the gift.
Taccone called it “my favorite line of my lines in the movie,” noting the “wack” earnestness of the line. (So wack, in fact, that Taccone initially wanted the line cut.)
The auction lot includes the full leather jumpsuit with “Rod” emblazoned on it (and another ‘ROD’ written on the inside tag by production), a helmet bearing another “ROD” logo, and gloves tagged “101 Rod Stunt.” And yes, the suit includes the cape.
I won’t spoil whether or not Rod lands the jump… but the product’s description might offer a clue. (Though it’s unclear if this was also the suit worn on landing.)
“The cape on the jumpsuit and the helmet both exhibit some scuffing and aging from production use,” Propstore’s description notes.
Per the auction’s estimates, the item is expected to fetch between $3,000 and $6,000—a small fraction of the $50,000 heart transplant Frank needed.
Propstore’s “Entertainment Memorabilia Live Auction: Los Angeles Summer 2025” opens on Thursday, September 4th. The Hot Rod jumpsuit is scheduled to close the next day. Bidding starts at $1,500.
Update 9/16/25: Rod Kimble’s jumpsuit sold for over 3-6 times the estimate: A wild $18,900.
